October 18, 2011 Meeting
Jim and Karla Byron were guest
speakers for the October meeting.They presented a program called "Birds of the South" sharing Byron's experience in photographing birds of the southern region.
Pigeons
The Byrons brought and shared two homing pigeons and explained how they are raised and trained by them. President Sandra Marshall and Peg Rentrop got upclose with the birds.
September 20, 2011 Meeting
Horticulture activity twice a year is a plant exchange. National Garden Club Week 2011

LGCF District III Meeting 2011
Members attended the District III President's Luncheon at Rip Van Winkle Gardens in New Iberia on June 29.

Cleanest City Contest 2011
Poster contest winners, judges, Patterson Garden Club members, and Mayor Rodney Grogan meet at city hall. Thanks for all the help.
Reception at the lighthouse
A reception was held at the Felterman lighthouse after the judging. Thank you to the Feltermans for sharing such a beautiful facility.
March 2011 Meeting
The theme for this month's meeting was "Conserving Energy in the Home", and the guest speaker was Ms. Lanie Borel, residential & commercial business developer with Cleco Power. Ms. Borel presented all the members with a home conservation kit and gave a presentation on energy saving tips.
Club prepares for the Cleanest City Contest
Cleanest City Contest was discussed. Judging will be held March 30th 2011 at 10:30.
February Meeting
Hostesses for the meeting were Sharon Larson, Gretchen Lambert, and Cleo Picou.
Mayor Rodney Grogan visited with the members and advised them of steps already being taken by the city to begin clean-up efforts. Judging will be held March 29th and 30th.

Gretchen introduced the book Easy Plant Propagation by Nancy J. Ondra, and gave tips for filling your garden with plants from seeds, cuttings, divisions, and layers

February 2011 Birthday Party
Linda Thomas and Iris Roy are serving cake to residents.
Members served homemade cakes and punch while everyone listened to music.
Arbor Day at Hattie Watts Elementary
Each year the PGC sponsors an Arbor Day Ceremony at the school. The second graders perform a great program.

In Memory of Marie Morella
On Arbor Day a white Crepe Myrtle was planted and dedicated in memory of Marie Morella, a charter member who died last year. The tree is planted at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Gathered are her family and members of PGC.
In Memory of Marlene Jenkins
An ash tree was planted at Watts Elementary where Marlene had worked for many years. Her three children and a grandchild pose with the tree planted in her memory.
January Meeting
Office of Emergency Management director Duval Arthur was guest speaker at the PGC's January meeting. He discussed hurricane preparedness. Treasurer Iris Roy presented him a gift of appreciation.

November 16 Meeting
Hostesses for the meeting were Claire Sawyer, Juanita Bienvenu, and Fedora Boudreaux. The members enjoyed a fried turkey, prepared by Luke Bienvenu, along with rice dressing, green beans, and carrot cake. Plans were discussed for Christmas activities.
"Basics in Flower Arranging"
Member Daisy Leblanc presented a program on the basic mechanics of flower arranging, giving members tips and advice on how to make your floral arrangements look like a professional did it.

October 19 Meeting Painting Fun
The monthly meeting for the Patterson Garden Club was held on Tuesday, October 19th at the Patterson Civic Center. Hostesses for the meeting were Ginger Griffin, Peg Rentrop, and Rosa Butler.
Blue Star Marker Ceremony
PGC has a ceremony each year honoring veterans at the Blue Star By-way marker at City Hall. PJHS played patriotic music.

Design Exhibit
Daisy LeBlanc, co hostess with Iris Roy made the design exhibit for the meeting.

Annual PGC Scholarship
The 7th Annual Patterson Garden Club Scholarship was presented to Jeremy Irion, a 2010 honor graduate of Patterson High School. Irion plans to attend ULL and major in mechanical engineering. PGC President Evelyn and treasurer Iris Roy presented the $500 award recently.
National Garden Club Week
Patterson Garden Club donated a gardening book to the Patterson Branch Library. Treasurer Iris Roy and President Evelyn Estay presented "The Southern Living Garden Book" to Lisa Wilson in memory of Marie Morella.
